BIOGRAPHY

Mason Weiss (he/they) is a queer and transgender interdisciplinary artist from Los Angeles, now based in Potsdam, Germany. His practice integrates sculpture, wearables, and photography to archive self discovery and compassion. In his sculptural works, beads and textiles are stitched into autobiographical vessels that hold memory, play, and transformation. By staging the sculptures alongside himself in photographs, he queers notions of traditional family structures crafting tender mythologies of queer kinship, time, and selfhood.

In 2019, Weiss received his BFA and a minor in Writing and Literature from California College of the Arts, San Francisco. He is an upcoming artist in residence at Scope BLN, Berlin from March 2027 to March 2028 and completed a monthlong residency at Casa R.A.R.O., Barcelona in May 2026. He was awarded the Society of Friends scholarship to attend the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in 2025, and completed a six-month residency at GlogauAIR, Berlin from October 2022 to March 2023. From 2024 to 2026, Weiss was part of The Bureau of Queer Art | InResidency, where his work continued to unfold within a network of international queer artists.

Weiss has shown work across the US and internationally and has been featured in several publications. Exhibitions include: solo show “Bare All” on Artsy, “Dismantled”, Maryland Art Place in Baltimore, TRYST Art Fair Los Angeles, Clavo Feria de Arte during Mexico City Art Week), and “The Eternal Network” during Berlin Art Week.
